Hi,In this article i will show you how to dual boot your window 10 with Debian and if you guys face any problem while following this article then watch above video to see all of this in action. If you want to Dual Boot Debian with Windows 8.1 then watch this video :)

 

 

I am assuming that you know how to make bootable USB for Debian but if you do not then i recommend you to watch this video.  

 

 

before starting this tutorial let me write little bit about Debian.

About Debian

The Debian is a free operating system. Debian system uses the Linux kernel.Debian is a Unix-like computer operating system.As one of the earliest Linux distributions, it was envisioned that Debian was to be developed openly in the spirit of the GNU Project.Debian officially contains only free software, but non-free software can be downloaded from the Debian repositories and installed. to read more about Debian visit Debian Wiki Page

Dual Boot Windows 10 with Debian

To install Debian,first of all we have to create spare free space in our hard disk. for this.. Right click on your THIS PC and click on manage.

then click on Disk Management.

Right click on your disk from which you want to spare free space, and then click on shrink volume.

Now enter 20 GB of space and click on Shrink.

You will see 19.65 GB of space allocated to spare disk.

Now right click on this newly formed spare disk and click on NEW SIMPLE VOLUME.

Now click on NEXT.

Next to continue partition

Now check the box for Assigning the drive latter and click on NEXT.

Now click on finish.

Complete partitions for disks

Now insert the disk or drive containing boot able Debian. and Rename your newly formed disk as Debian.

Now restart your computer.

Restart PC to go on Debian boot menu

Now go to the boot menu and click on install and press Enter.

Now select a language and press Enter.

Now Select your location and press Enter.

Now configure your keyboard and press Enter.

Now click on continue.

Configuring network

Now click on DO NOT CONFIGURE THE NETWORK AT THIS TIME and press Enter.

Now write your host name and hit on continue.

Now choose your password.

re-enter your password.

Now write the user name.

Now choose the password for new user.

re-enter the password.

Now select your time zone.

Now choose the partition method as MANUAL.

Now select the newly formed 21.0 GB disk.

Now select DELETE THE PARTITION.

Now select the free space of 21.0 GB.

Now select CREATE A NEW PARTITION.

Create a new partition of 2.0 GB.

Select partition disk of LOGICAL type.

Select the location for the new partition as Begining.

Now on partition setting window select USE AS box for Ext4 journaling file system.

Now select SWAP AREA in HOW TO USE THIS PARTITION window.

Now select on DONE SETTING UP THE NEW PARTITION.

Now select the remaining free space of 19.0 GB.

Now create new partition disk by selecting CREATE NEW PARTITION option.

Now click on continue to create partition.

Select partition disk of LOGICAL type.

Now select DONE SETTING UP THE NEW PARTITION.

Now select FINISH PARTITIONING AND WRITE CHANGES TO DISK.

Now Hit on YES to ensure writing our changes to disk.

Now hit NO to deny another CD or DVD scan.

refuse use network mirror option by hitting on NO.

Now hit NO to deny participating in package survey.

hit yes to Install the grub boot loader.

Now select the /dev/sda... option as shown in figure.

After the completion of installation hit on continue.

Now your system is Dual boot if you want to use Debian then select *Debian GNU/Linux.

and if you want to use windows then select Windows Recovery Environment.
